On 1 March 2022, European Commissioner Virginijus Sinkevičius will host the second ‘Pan-European Cruise Dialogue’ in Brussels. This event is the latest in a series of dialogues to promote sustainable cruise tourism in the EU. It will feature high-level speakers from the European Commission, the European Parliament, the Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA), the European Sea Ports Association (ESPO), the European Travel Commission (ETC) and other cruise tourism stakeholders.
In this hybrid event, the Commission will be able to welcome 200 participants on site and many more remotely. Policy representatives and cruise tourism stakeholders such as cruise lines, ports, tourism organisations, as well as EU agencies, are warmly invited to participate.
The 2nd Pan-European Cruise Dialogue will carry on the tradition and build on the achievements of previous cruise dialogues, organised by the European Commission since 2015. Opportunities and challenges of sustainable cruise tourism for the years to come will be discussed. The focus will be on on the eco-system of cruise tourism, including its economic, environmental and social sustainability, its governance structures. The aim is to identify good practices that leverage partnerships of cruise tourism stakeholders, and to amplify joint efforts. Input from a broad range of stakeholders representing cruise lines, tourism authorities, municipalities, ports, tour operators, and European agencies will feed into the discussion.
