The Atlantic Smart Ports Blue Acceleration Network (AspBAN) Bootcamp took place from January 23rd to 25th at Instituto Hidrogrรกfico – Marinha Portuguesa in Lisbon. This event brought together startups, ports, corporates, investors, mentors, and entrepreneurs to foster collaboration within the Blue Economy ecosystem.
The AspBAN project has been named a ‘flagship project’ by the European Commission, as it is the first project of its kind to be implemented in Europe, and with high strategic importance in terms of replicability and transferability of results to other regions of Europe.
The AspBAN BOOTCAMP has 10 Innovation Challenges, 40 Top Startups and more than 147 multi-ports pilots between the 4 countries of the European Commission’s Atlantic Strategy Committee (Portugal, Spain, France and Ireland) to provide a more sustainable future. For this occasion, a database (AspBAN funds and support for Blue SMEs โ AspBAN funds and support for Blue SMEs) of Atlantic regional grants has been developed to guide start-ups in their development in the Atlantic.
The event facilitated concrete matches and synergies between startups, investors, entrepreneurs, mentors, and partners, showcasing their contributions to the AspBAN’s 10 innovation challenges.
Josรฉ Maria Costa, Secretary of State for the Sea at the Ministry of Economy and Sea, attended the opening ceremony, emphasizing the importance of the AspBAN Bootcamp in addressing sustainability challenges and diversifying revenue sources for Atlantic ports.

The Atlantic Smart Ports Blue Acceleration Network Bootcamp was a resounding success, generating enthusiasm and paving the way for a more sustainable and innovative future in the Blue Economy.
A tsunami of innovation was ignited in Lisbon for all the Atlantic ports and startups from around the world that worked together to take deep dives and find amazing solutions to help ports become incredible blue innovation hubs for new businesses and a more sustainable blue economy.
The amazing ASPBAN consortium were able to deliver a significant number of new pilot projects on green energy, ocean health and digitilization with startups and ports.
